to family Rosaceae and are called queen of flowers. The first written record of
rose dates back some 3,000 years to Sumerian and Babylonians record discovered
in Mesopotamia. The Babylonians decorated “The Hanging Gardens” with
roses; turning these gardens into one of the seven wonders of the ancient
worlds. Roses are grown for their beautiful blooms, either as landscape, through
cutting. Many roses are highly valued for their fragrance. Rose is a symbol of
perfection, elegance, love, romance and a source of aesthetic gratification for
human being. It enjoys superiority overall other flowers being extensively used
for decorative purposes and is for its decorative nature, beauty, charm and
fragrance.

Cut flowers
play an important role in interior decoration and add charm to different
occasions like marriage ceremonies, arrival and departure of different
dignitaries, gift on birthday and Valentine day.  Major producing
countries of the world are China, Netherlands, France, Pakistan, Italy. Quality
rose flowers production demand the use of optimum nutrients level, that is
essential for plants growth. Improper fertilization in combination with
excessive irrigation may contribute to soil and environmental pollution. In

Roses are
heavy feeders, especially at flowering stage they need more fertilizer. Use of
fertilizer and micronutrients in flowering plants always proved helpful to
increase their output. Likewise roses also require well balanced fertilization
for maximum production, along with other plant management practices such as
pruning, irrigation hoeing etc. The proper ratio of NPK and micronutrients is
indeed a secret of success and expected to increase yield by enhancing the number
and size of flowers.

Keeping in
view the socio-economic value of the crop and to produce good quality cut
flowers, the project will be executed with an aim to find out some
micronutrients along with different combination to get healthy and vigorous plant
growth, maximum flower production of superior quality and to get early
flowering of roses. 

Two years old healthy and vigorously growing
rose plants will be selected and pruned at equal height from soil surface. All
selected plants will be tagged according to lay out of the
experiment. Micronutrients (Zinc, Iron, Boron) will be applied in the form
of foliar spray by mixing with water and applied at different doses. Data will
be recorded on different indices of plants growth and flowering including
Plants height, Number of leaves plants, Leaf area, Number of flowers per
plants, Flower stalk length, Flower diameter, B, Zn, Fe Analysis in leaves etc.
Data obtained will be subjected to statistical analysis using computer software
SPSS.
