On the sector of film production, we have a different type of film movement where they had various debates about which one is the best and appropriate for a film. In this essay, I will talk, give my opinion, compare and analyse this two-film movement of all time which is Italian Neorealism and Classical Hollywood.Those two movements are similar and at the same time different, because one of them is like a film is a happy ending and the second is the real ending which can be sad/happy ending depends to the register. I will start to talk and describe both film movement. The Italian Neorealism is film movement born on 1945 almost during and after the World War II, characterised by a concern for social issues which is poverty, working class and often shot on location with nonprofessional actors. Italian neorealist films are confronted with the difficult economic and moral problems of Italy in the fact that they lived and suffered the Second World War, thus addressing the post-war period, reflecting changes in the Italian psyche and the conditions of daily life that are poverty and despair. The Italian neorealist films mostly fall of fascism and under the Italian Fascism government by Mussolini.  With the fall of the fascist regime of Mussolini in 1943 and the end of the Second World War, the young directors who came out of the war participated in the renewal movement of Italian society in those years. Their commitment was the direct contact, almost documentary, with the reality that the need for truth after the mystifications and the rhetoric of the regime that recently freed from fascist censorship that of Mussolini, succeeded in creating the cinematic realism that was a present trend during the fascist period of Mussolini that would be the social, political and economic issues that would never be tolerated by the fascist regime.In the films of neorealism, they sometimes had a very critical vision or the idea of ??Italian society, that the attention was focused on social problems such as the effects of resistance and war, the poverty of the post-war period and also the increase in disruption.The films of Italian neorealism are differentiated by a strong realist role, that is the use of non-professional actors, of the direct taking of the external landscape of the cities and the countryside. in the films of neorealism, no longer looks at individual stories of the person or middle-class, but in collective events as the Resistance had concerned a story of a whole people, like the partisans, post-war women, poor people forced to steal a bicycle to find work, retirees, emigrants. It was filmed all that fascism did not admit to existence as the poor people starving, the increase in prostitution due to unemployment, suicides and even where the world of work was really hard.The Italian neorealism has influenced various film styles all over the world, which influenced the European countries like the kitchen sink school the United Kingdom movement with “Look back in ager of Tony Richardson on 1956” or the “poor cow of Ken Loach on 1967”, the French cinema and nouvelle vague with “Mounsieur Ripois of Rene Clement on 1954 also influenced the south Americas like the cinema novo Brazilian movement, the early works of Satyajit Ray Indian film movement around 1955 – 1959 and last the united stares of America during 1948 (after WWII) and 1965. The word Neorealism was applied by Antonio Pietrangeli one of the big critics of that time to Luchino Visconti of the film Ossessione 1943 like also to the others filmmaker like Roberto Rossellini and Vittorio De Sica. One of the most things of the Italian Neorealism is that based on the reality, this means that film directed by De Sica (Bicycle Thieves, 1948) was made it show the audients the reality means the poverty of the people after the WWII.The importance of this Film Movement Italian neorealism is to make the happy ending of Hollywood movies like an unreal ending. The classic Hollywood cinema also called the golden age of the studios was born in the period between 1920 and 1960. The classic Hollywood and is a privilege for any kind of approach to the forms and problems of the film in general. the kind of system that Hollywood film industries are developed by models of American capitalist industry, where they not only have an abundance and regularity of production but also various particular styles and aesthetics. moreover, with these peculiarities, they allowed directors to offer all the measures of their talent within a representation of reality with absolutely unmistakable connotations. They give the name of “The Golden Age of the Studios” because during that time was many studios of cinematographic where make a film and also was the year when the silent movies gave space to the techniques of voice and sounds. The term Studios have a different meaning for example in Italian it’s mean shoot inside on theatre but the English were meaning of the building office where the cinematographic studio come from.The studio system is the industry of classical Hollywood which the power and the authority is on the big studios, in facts we go 8 studios which are divided in 2 part: Major is composed of 5 big studios cinematographic which is Paramount Pictures, Metro – Goldwyn – Mayer, Warner Brothers, Twentieth Century Fox and at the end of the major we have Radio – Keith – Orpheum, Each of these majors have facilities specifically for the production of films such as the theatre’s, post-production studios, warehouses, not only have this but also have a rich staff under contract as directors, actors, writers, directors of photography, musicians, costume designers, etc. who then work according to the directives of the company in which they are contracted. Each of major have they on policy of the type of film deliver or type of style to use in the film etc. for example we can see the difference between the music of 1930 that Warner Studios and RKO did, they done differently style even if the musical was the someone of Dance of the light (Gold Diggers of 1933). They also have three basic pieces that are Production, Distribution, and Exercise.During the time of 1920 – 1960 there were a distinctive collection of movies which had a similar type of story where telling which was called the classical Hollywood cinema and the type of film style a set of unwritten rules which was widely accepted by the filmmakers. The Classical Hollywood Film Movement is a type of movement where they want the show to the audience the happy ending.As I mentioned at the beginning the Italian neorealism and the classic Hollywood are for some aspects similar but for others very different. One of the primary differences between them is the style of movie making, in fact, the Italian neorealism the style made a social, artistic and political statement about being in the world instead the classical Hollywood style is predictable that mean we now already what will be the ending of the film. Other differences are the environment that both use to make the movies which in Classical Hollywood environment need to look realistic and believable to the viewer, therefore, the set designer tries to create something that at the eye of a spectator we do not realise that they are places that are specially created. The classic Hollywood is a type of style that wants to convey to the viewers that what they are seeing is real and obviously there must always be a happy ending. One of the movies of classical Hollywood is Casablanca, we can have said that the structure of this film has 3 type which is Routine life, Problem-solving and Problem resolved most of the Americans film are structure.The characteristics of Italian neorealism that determine the entire film movement are: the environment, most important was the street of the city after the WWII because show the realistic environment with the only difference that this setting was created after the war, was a documentary visual style what gave the appearance of a personal story. Something that really fascinated cinema itself is that in Italian neorealism the actors were not professionals as they show in the films of Classical Hollywood but they were ordinary people who could not regulate but had an important thing that served in Italian cinema more than anything else was the poverty of the people, the despair of the post-war period, they were perfect for this reason.in conclusion, I want to say that both the Classical Hollywood and the Italian neorealism are movements that have made history. what I mean is that even if between them there are different characteristics such as actors, places and the type of history have left an important mark where obviously have influenced many other film styles that I mentioned at the beginning.
