The most extraordinary fact about the need for a discussion of the relationship of Science and Literature, is that it needs discussing. In other words, the literature and science are two different direction of a way. In this assignment, we can discuss what is then the differentiating factor for Science and Literature? In the modern year, we has witnessed rapid advancements in science and technology it not displaced the traditional knowledge systems represented by the fields of literature, art, philosophy, and religion. Literature      Literature, a body of written works. The name which is traditionally used to those imaginative works like poems and prose distinguished by the intentions of the authors. Literature may be classified by variety of systems like language, national origin, historical period, genre, and subject. The word literature is obtained from  Latin word Littera, meaning letters. Literature is defined as books or other written works which have a creative, artistic and imaginative mind. The two main categories separating the different genres of literature are 😕 Nonfiction ? FictionGenres of Nonfiction:Narrative Nonfiction is based on a fact that is presented in a format which tells a story.Essays are a short literary composition that reflects the author’s outlook. An essay is based on a particular theme or subject, on author’s point of view.A Biography is a written account of another person’s life.An Autobiography gives the history of a person’s life, written by that person.Genres of Fiction:Drama is the genre of stories composed for theatrical performance. In which conflicts and emotion are expressed through dialogue and action.Poetry is a genre of literature for exciting pleasure by beautiful, imaginative, or elevated thoughts.Fairy Tales or wonder tales are a kind of folktale. The stories are about fairies or other magical creatures and are usually for children.Science Fiction is a story based on impact of potential science, either actual or imagined. Science fiction is one of the genres of literature that is set in the future or on other planets.Short Story is fiction with a fully developed theme but significantly shorter and less elaborate than a novel.ScienceScience is systematic knowledge, as of facts or principles; knowledge gained by systematic study through observation and experimentation. Science is defined as the observation, identification, description, experimental investigation, and theoretical explanation of natural phenomena. The word Science comes from Latin word scientia meaning knowledge  and in the broadest sense it is any systematic knowledge-base or prescriptive practice capable of resulting in prediction. Science can also be understood as a highly skilled technique or practice.•Science is both a body of knowledge and a process. In school, science may sometimes seem like a collection of static facts listed in a textbook, but that’s only a small part of the story. Just as importantly, science is also a process of discovery that allows us to link these facts into our natural world.• Science is exciting. Science is a way of discovering what’s in the universe and how those things work today, how they worked in the past, and how they are likely to work in the future. Scientists are motivated by the thrill of seeing out something that no one has done before.• Science is useful. The knowledge generated by science is powerful and reliable. It can be used to develop new technologies, treat diseases, and deal with many other sorts of problems.• Science is ongoing. Science is continually refining and expanding our knowledge of the universe, and as it does, it leads to new questions for future investigation. Science will never be finished.Relationship between literature and scienceScience can be an inspiration for literature. Normally we think of science as one kind of human investigation and literature as another, in science fiction we can bring these together either by literary imagination or by scientific mind. Science examines the nature of the real world and seeks by means of technology and it works with evidence. Literature seeks for truth, which does not necessarily lie in the real world around us but rather in our minds and  in our imaginations.A major relation between these two are science fictions, typically dealing with imaginative concepts of science, technology, space travel, time travel, parallel universes, and extra terrestrial life. Science fiction often explores the potential consequences of scientific and other innovations, and has been called a literature of ideas. In mid twentyth century popular theorists like Max Eastman, Aldous Huxley, Roland Barther… had searched for the relationship between science and literature and concluded that there is no true relation between science and literature which can be defined once and forever, due to several reasons. Literature offers knowledge to those that seek it, gives experiences to those who understands it, and pleasure to those that love it. But science on other hand imparts knowledge, leads to experience and give pleasure to few who love it. Literature is often backed up by imagination while in science, it is research, observation, and  hypothesis. Both are performing experiments. In case of scientists it is done by logically and scientifically while a writer is done by his imagination, knowledge and a little bit of research.ConclusionIn our society, there is a rumour that only through science we can gain knowledge. But human can get it through many ways such as literature, arts, and so on.
