INTRODUCTIONFeminism is not only a word, but a movement. Feminism is the fight for for women’s rights based on the equality of the sexes. It is not a simple thing, but it is nothing hard to understand. Male patriarchy is usually the reason behind the abscentiene of women’s rights. Male patriarchy is when a male holds primary power and predominate in roles of political leadership, moral authority, social privilege and control of property.THE HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF FEMINISMSimilar to anything else, feminism has its past and unique background. It start from when women held no power. They had no rights, couldn’t vote, and were simply just homemakers. Although the fight it’s over, women have obtained their rightfully owed rights.TYPES OF FEMINISMThere are many different types of feminism. The different types of feminism are liberal, radical, Marxist and socialist, cultural, and eco-feminism. Liberal feminism works within the structure of mainstream society to integrate women into that structure. Radical Feminism is a movement determined on social change of a revolutionary size. Marxist and socialist feminism acknowledges that women are oppressed and blames the capitalist and private property system. Cultural feminism works to build a women’s culture. Eco-feminism is more spiritual than political or theoretical in nature and believes in the preservation of nature.MULTI-RACIAL FEMINISM Multi-racial feminism is defined as feminism based on the examination of dominance through understanding social constructs of race, ethnicity, tradition, and culture. This can be brought back to black feminism thoughts. Women in general get treated poorly ,but it gets worse among each race. A black woman wouldn’t have the same rights as a white woman, regardless of both races being the same gender.CRITICAL RACE FEMINIST THEORY This is the critical examination of society and culture to the intersection of race, law, and power. This proves that women get treated differently depending on either of these things.BLACK FEMINISM VS FEMINISMThe Black Feminist movement focused on reproductive issues, equality in healthcare prevention of sexual harassment, and other pertinent issues, unlike the White feminists, Black feminists are actively fighting against structural and institutional racism.BLACK FEMINIST THOUGHT The Black feminist thought consists of ideas produced by Black women that clarify a standpoint of and for Black women. It is based off of this group’s perception of other races, gender roles, etc.
