this means that it’s principles or laws can be found in different places which
is called “sources of law”. A source of law is the origin of where laws come
from or where they can be found. An example of source of law would be common
law.

 Common law is the
main source of law in the UK (England and Wales) this is because many of the
new laws made in parliament haven’t become a statutory yet, therefore the it’s
up to the judges (court) to try and imply acts to fit parliaments intention and
apply it to the case. The English legal system operates on the doctrine of
parliamentary sovereignty, this means that parliament is the highest law-making
body in the UK, this could be one of the reason it could be argued that judge
made law is probably not the most influential source of law in English and
Wales.

As mentioned in the introduction, one of the
most influential sources of law is Common law also known as laws made by judges
is a very influential source of law in England and Wales (E and W) because when
a judge makes a statement in a case, the statement becomes binding on judges
that are to come later meaning that it could become a law that all judges and
courts must imply by. One of the advantages that tells us that judge made laws
are the most influential would be the fact that it is flexible more than parliamentary
laws, this is because common law often reacts quicker to the needs of the
community as society is changing, parliamentary laws are hard to amend and
could take years to be changed, therefore this can prove that common laws is a
very important source of law in the English legal system. However, it can also
be argued that judge made laws are not the most influential source of law in E
and W because parliament easily overrides them, this is because parliament is
the highest law-making body in the English legal system, this means that common
laws
