As we are ware Sony PlayStation had been a victim of an illegal network intrusion between the dates April 17 and April 19, 2011, that resulted in the compromised information of PlayStation Network and Qriocity account users. In reaction to this intrusion and steps to remediate, Sony has turned off PlayStation Network and Qriocity services pro tem.
SONY values your privacy and rues that it happened. SONY is conducting a thorough review of the potentially affected systems and accounts and will alert you if there are any developments made. As a part of the remediation plan, Sony has taken additional security measures to avert any future attacks and to protect the privacy of Sony’s valued stakeholders and customers. We are also working with credit card suppliers and law enforcement to make sure the incident is being appropriately confronted.
As the investigation is still ongoing, we have accumulated that the intrusion resulted from data theft and possibly gained any information provided by account holders and customers, that may include name, address email address, birthdate, PlayStation Network and Qriocity account password and login, There is also a possibility credit card details may be gained although there is no solid evidence as of now. We will keep you updated with any advancements made in investigating the incident, and stay tuned on news channels for the same.
We request you to be cautious with any fraudulent and spam emails that may come through as SONY will not be contacting you in anyway. Please do not respond to any emails that request for account or billing information. And for your security, we request you to be alert and to monitor your bank statements to not be oblivious if any unauthorized purchases have been made as a result of data theft.
